Special Issue on

Nanodevices

Call for Papers

With the coming of nano-revolution, the nano-inspired research efforts have been popular throughout the world. Nanoscience and nanotechnology have attracted much attention from thousands of scientists and engineers. Along with the rapid development of nanotechnology, nanodevices with new performance different from the traditional devices are constantly emerging. Bottom-up fabrication of nanodevices is based on manipulation and assembly of nano units. Much progress has been made to assemble nanomaterials into ordered architectures by self-assembly, site-selective growth, and physical manipulation with scanning probe techniques, and so on. However, the assembly of nanomaterials is still a serious challenge in this field. Due to size effects, nanomaterials possess unique physical and chemical properties which determine the performance of the nanodevices made from them. It is very important to gain deep understanding about the relationship between structure and properties of the nanomaterials for nanodevice applications. Nanodevice performance is mainly dependant on its structure, and much work has been devoted to the design and precise control of nanodevice structure such as junctions. Of course, interconnecting and packaging at nanoscale is another important aspect for nanodevice fabrication. Apart from the most widely investigated carbon nanotube devices, various nanodevices prepared by non-carbon nanotubes, nanowires, and nanoparticles, both inorganic and organic, have also been widely investigated exploring different functionalities.

This special issue of Journal of Nanomaterials will be fully dedicated to Nanodevices. This issue openly calls for new contributions in the field of nanodevices. It intends to cover the entire range of nanodevices. The issue welcomes the contributions related to the fundamental theoretical understanding of the properties of nanomaterials and the working principles of nanodevices. We invite manuscripts related to the device size dependence on nanomaterial properties, nanodevice fabrication and functionalization, and applications of nanostructured materials.

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

o Assembly of nanomaterials
o Sizedependent properties of nanomaterials
o Modeling of nanodevices
o Carbon nanotube devices
o Organic and inorganic noncarbon nanodevices
o Manufacturing and fabrication (such as self-assembly)

Authors should follow the Journal of Nanomaterials manuscript format described at the journal site http://www.hindawi.com/journals/jnm/.
